DT Williams Rocks and Rolls Legacy Transit Career
When David Williams was first hired at the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) he probably had a pretty good idea it was going to be a career. After all, his grandfather, father and uncle collected over 120 years as streetcar and/or bus operators. And sure enough, despite pursuing his musical pursuits in between, DT has now been with KCATA nearly 30 years and still going strong. Rocking and rolling all day long. KCATA Congratulates Johnson County on $7.65M Grant
(Kansas City, Mo., July 9, 2024) – Today, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the recipients of the FY 24 Bus and Low- & No-Emissions Grant awards. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) congratulates Johnson County Government on the receipt of a $7.65 million Bus and Bus Facilities grant to buy new energy-efficient propane and CNG vehicles that will replace diesel-powered vehicles that have exceeded their useful life. The announcement was made today at an event in Johnson County.

Ride KC Celebrates 1st Year of Adopt-a-Stop Program
(Kansas City, Mo., April 29, 2024) – The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and partners are taking an active role in improving Kansas City communities with the RideKC Adopt-A-Stop program which kicked off one year ago on Earth Day. The first organization to step up was Ruby Jean’s Juicery at 31st Street and Troost Avenue. Now, there are 13 partners in the Adopt-A-Stop program.
UG Launches Flexible, On-Demand Transportation Service to Improve Connectivity and Community Access
Kansas City, KS – The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS (UG) Transportation Department has launched an innovative new microtransit and paratransit service to provide passengers with more efficient, responsive public transportation in our community. The IRIS application, provided by RideCo, is a cloud-based service that enables riders to improve their overall experience in planning, reserving, and paying for their rides in a single application. Both services operate under the RideKC brand.
